HENRY CURTIN

  • School: Galileo Academy of Science & Technology
  • Teaches: Geometry
  • Favorite Player: Colin Kaepernick

"Mr. Curtin was my middle school Algebra and Geometry teacher, and he made Math one of my best classes. Every day he could, he'd stay after school to work with me and my seventh-grade Algebra classmates. He never gave us the answers; he made us think and get them on our own. He challenged you in a way that made you want to learn more. He gives his students so many resources and opportunities to learn and the independence to do it," said Derick Brown, Jr., a former student of Curtin's. "Mr. Curtin also found ways to motivate us to study for tests. We got extra points on test days for wearing a tie - girls and boys. Everyone knew when it was a test day for the kids in Mr. Curtin's class because we all walked around in our ties."
